THIS IS A PRELIMNARY PAGE TO THE MAIN SITE.
Choose "FLASH SITE" or "SIMPLE SITE" from the FRONT page to enter main site.
Choose "FLASH SITE" for version of site with fancy graphics/audio.
Choose "SIMPLE SITE" for version of site best for slower internet connctions/computers.
If FLASH does not run, it may be installed by going to the FLASH installation site below.
It takes a few seconds for typical connections.
FLASH may be DISABLED or ENABLED in most browsers TOOLS or OPTIONS or SETTINGS menu
under an APPLICATIONS or PLUG INS or ADD ONS submenu.
The "FLASH SITE" plays a one time intro animation and has richer interactive visuals/audio, but may take longer to load for slower connections.
The "SIMPLE SITE" has the same functionality but lacks the rich interactive visuals and intro.
FLASH INTRO LOAD TIMES / INTERNET CONNECTION SPEED
1 second or less 4Mb/s - Average U.S. speed
9 seconds or less 256kb/s - Minimum broadband speed
68 seconds 56kb/s - Dial up (5% of U.S. users)
A 2nd FLASH load approximately 2/3 as long
will occur on first return to HOME page for loading the FLASH interactivity.
In most cases, internet connection speed is the determining factor in Flash performance, but other factors such as processor speed, RAM, and browser settings may affect Flash performance as well.
There are two versions of BruceLemons.com the user can switch between at any time by clicking the "FLASH SITE" or "SIMPLE SITE" buttons located on the HOME page.
The only difference between the two is the HOME page itself, which for the FLASH version has FLASH interactivity, and will play a 3 second FLASH intro animation on first viewing of the page.
The FLASH INTRO animation will play only when first entering FLASH mode with the "FLASH SITE" button. The FLASH HOME page interactivity will persist unless the user clicks "SIMPLE SITE" mode.
Both versions have the same functional content, (information, links, and image gallery).
The advantage of the FLASH version is additional aesthetic richness with audio, and more complex visuals/ interactivity.
The disadvantage of the FLASH version is that there can be a wait for the site to load. Listed at the top of the page are estimated load times. The user will experience 2 FLASH loads, the first for the intro, the second for the home page load without the intro.
Another disadvantage of FLASH is that the software must be installed on your PC. This is rarely an issue. So many web sites are designed for FLASH, it is almost ubiquitous at this time, already installed on approximately 98% of users PC's. The chances are, you already have it installed.
FLASH software is free, about 2 MB, and installs in a few seconds for most. At the top of this page is a link to the ADOBE site where it may be downloaded/installed.
Internet browsers, (Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Opera are the most common), interpret web sites, which are written in a language called HTML. HTML is geared towards text, and allows for some simplistic addition of graphics/audio.
FLASH is optional add on software made by ADOBE which runs along with your internet browser, and is geared towards graphics/audio/animation, adding visual/audio complexity/artistry to web sites designed to use it.
FLASH content can be played as an isolated element of a web page, and is very common for video files on sites such as YOUTUBE.
It is very common for sites geared towards artistic/visual content, such as marketing sites, artist's sites, etc., to have the entire site design based on FLASH content.
Most browsers provide options for blocking FLASH content since it is commonly used for pop up advertising. Most browsers also have settings permitting flash content to be allowed/disallowed for specific sites.
FLASH is disliked, (despised might be a more accurate description), by many in the tech community for a variety of reasons, including it's proprietary (ADOBE) unopen format, stability concerns, potential for inelegant/bloated code, and the tendency for many websites to over use FLASH in a heavy handed/annoying manner adversely affecting speed and/or user experience in general.
On the other hand, FLASH is relatively easy to impliment, has user friendly tools available, and permits complex audio/visual web presentations not possible, or at least not as easily achievable by any other means at this time.
